Farmhouse Kitchen Renovation

What's not to love about this generously sized charming kitchen?  The home was remodeled prior to the owner's moving in this kitchen is more than twice the size of the original. The extra large island has been topped with zinc and is developing a soft patina.

I love the French La Cornue range with it's sophisticated look and timeless took.

Custom wood countertops have dish drain grooves by the
Shaw farmhouse sink.
I've had the hardest time trying to get this location placed in a
national magazine. Love of Country Style did not just go away...however, the magazines have.

What's great about this bedroom....

This serene master bedroom has everything going for it...soothing colors, great windows that allow light to flood the room...comfortable chaise and chair...what's not to love?

Mosaic Tile work-inside & out

The mosaic design was created by Key West artist
Debra Yates.  In the photo above water flows from the mosaic wall in sheets and creates a serene rainfall sound.  Concrete surrounding the pool has been stained a watery aqua color.
Inside Yates has recreated a version of the wall in the indoor/outdoor shower for a unique beach house retreat.     www.debrayates.com

Green Living

  • Chandelier by Niemann Weeks, Stools by Thomas Moser
  • I love the clean lines of this kitchen. And the entire home has been designed with the environment in mind. Architect Patrick Farley of Watershed Architects (Richmond, VA) has used all "green products" to make this a safe home to live and breathe in.The cabinets have been painted with Zero-Voc milk paint and have 1930's style stainless steel hardware. The countertops are Virginia Soapstone, w/ white subway tiles lining the back wall . Floors are salvaged heart pine. On the back wall of the photo below is a soapstone double oven- for baking bread & pizza .

Home Spa Bath

I love this bathroom! The large curvy soak tub is called the "Mini Lavasca" , made by Rapsel, available through www.hastingstilebath.com
The tub has sleek modern lines that give this room the spa sanctuary look. To the right of the tub is a large open shower, one inch square glass tiles were used to cover the three walls. The tiles are repeated on the backsplash of the vessel sink sink by www.duravit.com . Large leaning  mirror from www.EQ3.com .  Stacked windows are frosted glass for privacy. Floors : black slate.

Garden shed with Style

At first glance you would think it is a child's playhouse or perhaps a  guest house...think again. Designer Janice Hall has created this charming shed with a lime green door and pale blue shutters. To the left is a fitted electric fireplace with mounted sconces .  This is a year round hang out...

Featured in REMODEL magazine

This recent addition was designed by Morgan Pierce of Grace Street Additions, www.gracestreet.com You might have seen several other homes The firm has designed in other national publications, RENOVATION STYLE included.
The home is featured in the May 2010 of Better Homes & Gardens REMODEL magazine , check out the magazine to see other great design ideas.
Pictured in the family room leading to the deck (yes this is the family room as there is a formal living room as well) you can see the architectural ceiling insets that have a tempered turquoise glass that allows light to flow through...see next photos with detail and bedroom suite sitting area flooring. Clever idea- don't you think?!!
Interior designer Kat Liebschwager , kat@ruthandollie.com , did an amazing job with the whole house decor!

New Carpenter Gothic

www.tonygiammarino.com

This is a home in Chapel Hill we shot for a OLD HOUSE INTERIORS magazine( August 2010).The interior of the house is very cool...great architectural design features throughout....in the second photo is the powder room, with salvaged door from a church...fits in with the Gothic Victorian look of the exterior design of the home... lots of color, very eclectic. The master bedroom and bath are my favorite rooms. The bedroom is a large bright room with lots of color and competing patterns( I don't want to live in this room- but I certainly can appreciate it's style. The master bath has this unusually large-i'm guessing 7 ft. vanity w/ double sinks w/bronze hardware and small round sinks. The chest on the left is inlaid w/mother of pearl. What do you think?  Architect: Sandra Vitzthum
